Safety Town is a miniature version of the City of Sturgis with roads, sidewalks, buildings, working stop lights, and working cross walk lights. Children learn proper pedestrian and bicycle safety on a realistic training ground.​

A major component of Safety Town are the summer camps for students entering kindergarten. During these one week camps students will learn about pedestrian, bicycle, bus, internet, and personal safety. The camp utilizes police, fire, central dispatch operators, school personnel, bus drivers, and the electric department to provide safety lessons to the campers.
